Forks and Corks Moves to CityScape
Wednesday November 10, 2010
PHOENIX, Ariz. – November 4, 2010 – It was inevitable. Forks & Corks – the wildly popular culinary event that has sold out every year since its inception seven years ago – has found a new venue: a large and thoroughly urban space that can accommodate thousands of participants and make them all feel like the big-city hipsters they long to be. On April 7, 2011, the eighth annual Forks & Corks will be held at CityScape, a multi-level, mixed-use urban project that’s destined to become downtown Phoenix's coolest destination.
For the first time ever, food-lovers will be celebrating some of the Valley's most interesting and approachable food and drink in a setting that also celebrates the growth and vibrancy of the city itself. Better still, urban dwellers won’t need to drive to the ‘burbs for this high-energy event. They can walk from the office, ride their bikes or take the light rail (which wraps around three sides of the event).
"We're expecting mobs of hungry cyclists and light rail riders," says Kristen Jarnagin, VP of Communications for the Arizona Hotel & Lodging Association. "This will be the first food event to truly embrace the new urban setting of downtown Phoenix."
With the expanded space, the event will grow to include more than 30 top chefs from great local restaurants and who will prepare their specialties for guests. Meanwhile, every food booth is paired side-by-side with beer or wine partners from notable local microbreweries and boutique wineries as well as handpicked sections from around the world. No one leaves hungry or thirsty. Live music and
a silent auction, offering gift certificates and Arizona getaways, keep the atmosphere festive.
